So … this week we lost a true legend, Cicely Tyson. An actress of extraordinary talent, charisma and wisdom. Even at an early age, she was knowledgeable enough to know that the roles she chose to portray could have a profound impact on the lives of others …

Trip To Bountiful

So … I chose this picture of Cicely in the Broadway Play, Trip to Bountiful, because I, along with others in the Beyond 20/20 Book Club, had the pleasure of attending the play and witnessing her remarkable performance in person. She went on to earn a Tony Award for this role.

So … let’s be thankful and grateful for having lived during HER lifetime. As a GMA we can only hope to leave behind a legacy that’s enriching and inspiring … Cicely did that tenfold for so many …. she was a GRAND GMA to us all!

  1. I agree wholeheartedly with all that was said! Cicely was a remarkable trailblazer and has left quite a legacy! We all can glean some tidbits of wisdom from her life both on and off the stage that we can impart to our grands!
    I, too was blessed to have seen her in Trip to Bountiful and thereafter, in The Gin Game, another fantastic performance with the legendary, James Earl Jones.
    I can’t wait to read her memoir, Just As I am! Love the book cover!!
