Our History Matters

Image result for quote about knowing your history

So … GMAs this is the month that has been slated to reflect on Black History in America and it’s also the time that we understand that Black History IS American History and therefore is celebrated all year long …

So … as GMAs lets utilize every opportunity to pass on our knowledge of our history … both American history and our family history.

So … inspire your GRANDS to know their “his”tory and “her”story… because as the wise saying goes … if you don’t know your history, you’re destined to repeat it.

  1. Black History month:
We as black people, should embrace our history all year long! Our history is soo profound that one month just isn’t enough to touch on our remarkable History from pre-slavery times when our ancestors were scholars in great universities such as Timbuktu, located in Mali, in the 1300s and to building edifices such as The Great Pyramids, which are an architectural mystery to this day!
Our stories of survival by our ancestors in The Americas must be told to our grands….their toil built cities, especially in the Southern states and also The White House, which First Lady Michelle O’bama rightly refer to the People’s House!
    Knowledge is Power!
Let us grandmas seek out books that we can share with our grands of all ages….it’s their History!
As the Ghanian word Sankofa means: we must reach back and reclaim that which was lost in order to move forward!
    Peace.
