Unconditional Love

SO … how many of us have known unconditional love? Before you raise your hand, let’s define it.

SO … I’d define it as love that is given with no expectation of anything in return. In fact, it is love that keeps giving even when it is not returned. It is a self-less, powerful, outpouring of the heart to another.

SO … we expect and may think we have experienced unconditional love from close family members … Mom, Dad, siblings. But when that unconditional love comes from a non-family member, it can be even more special and fulfilling.

SO … I ask again … how many have known unconditional love from a non-family member? I know for sure that I have, and it came from a woman who was my Godmother! She didn’t have to give her love to me, but she never failed to let me know I was loved. Thank you for blessing me with your love, Florence Harris; may you rest in peace!

SO … GMAs, I think I’ve said it before, but it’s worth repeating … GODMOTHERS are GMAs too!!!

  1. Godmothers are indeed special! I personally know one who stepped into the role of mother to her goddaugher upon the the death of the biological mother…when her godchild was very young.
I have fond memories of one of my two godmothers. I spent many “vacation” weeks during my youth with her, although sometimes a bit reluctantly, since I was expected to participate in the household chores like the other children! (In my mind, I was on “vacation!”) She was my “auntie” who was very creative…she baked delicious cakes(no recipe; just from her own imagination!). She was also a fantastic seamstress (no pattern but her own creation!)and at the end of my “vacation,” I always returned home with one or two new outfits!
Thanks for the wonderful memories, Auntie Doris! ❤️
